Orthopedic Bandagist – Prosthetist – Orthopedic Technician

The orthopedic technician is Bjorn Nelen, member of the para olympic committee
https://www.paralympic.org/bjorn-nelen  and he has been working with Dr De Rydt for 20 years. By means of a combined consultation with an orthopedic bandagist from the company Orthomatton, every Wednesday (1 pm to 2 pm) and only by appointment by telephone, it is possible to arrive at an adapted patient-oriented treatment. This agreement gives the opportunity to usually solve difficult problems through this multidisciplinary approach.

If you already have a prescription, you can also make an appointment separately with Mr Nelen.

Mobility aids: Many wheelchairs (manual or electric), scooters, tricycles, rollators, walkers, … can be offered.

Orthoses: An orthosis is a tool that supports, relieves or corrects the body in the event of an injury or condition.

Orthoses and braces are used for a wide range of pathologies and can be supplied prefabricated or custom-made. Here are some examples of disorders:

  • Neurological disorders (paralysis, spasticity, etc..)
  • Nerve disorders (carpal tunnel, etc..)
  • Tendon disorders (contractors, sections, etc…)
  • Joint disorders (luxations, stiffening joints, etc..)
  • Corrections for abnormalities (scoliosis, etc…)
  • Pressure garments for scar treatment (burns and others) compression stockings
  • Fracture/fracture treatment

Prostheses: There are different types of dentures and finishing according to your choice, both for the aesthetic finish with foam or silicone to size, and a 3D printed finish.

With an aesthetic prosthesis, the natural appearance of your arm is imitated as much as possible, but there are no moving parts.

A mechanical prosthesis has moving parts that are moved by their own muscle power.

The myoelectric prosthesis is electronically controlled by means of signals in the stump.

The myoelectric prosthesis is electronically controlled by means of signals in the stump.

The definition of a prosthesis is made when your stump is stable and there is a clear idea about the expectation of the prosthesis. Based on this, we will get to work for your definitive denture.

Arch supports: For orthotics, an impression of the feet is taken in the doctor’s office. This impression is processed at Orthomatton in Ghent. There are sports soles or soles consisting of cork and leather. The arch supports can be fitted and collected by appointment from Dr De Rydt.

If adjustments need to be made, the arch supports will be adjusted free of charge by Orthomatton and within three months after delivery. The appointment must always be made here by telephone.
